Being in the southeast of the United States we don't have the allure or the recognition as other wine regions worldwide. Most people think we are to hot and humid for grapes to grow or their will be no quality to them. This boundary is being pushed by a local winery that is using muscadine grapes for their wine. It is a family production down in Americus, Georgia and they have by far the best Muscadine wine I have had.

Wolf Creek Plantation wasn't always a winery, a few decades ago they were a golf course. After a few sales and hard work, they were able to buy it back and create a vineyard on what used to be the golf course. They have two locations, the actual vineyard where they host private events, weddings, and do the production, and the have a retail store where they offer wine tasting in downtown Americus.

Their new facility is 7,000 sq. ft. of event space and production. Surrounding it is a young vineyard that looks to be about 1-2 year old grapevines. in the distance on other fairways they have more mature fruiting vines.

Their wines range from sweet to dry for all palates along with offering a bluebery wine (made from fresh ripe blueberries) and a peach wine that is grape based with added natural peach flavors. They use the freshest, ripest fruit to make their wine instead of using older end of season on the verge of rotting fruit like others in our area. They truly are a quality or quantity business.

They also offer wine slushies on those hot Georgia days. They have a range of flavors and they actually use their own wine as a base for them. No cheap wine from gallon jugs to create them.

If you are looking for something to do and enjoy wine be sure to check them out in Americus and enjoy their wine and slushies.
