With the recent news of Tequila overtaking Whiskey in terms of value in the United States we tried something new this past weekend. While at a tequila and margarita bar we looked over the selection and decided on this bottle to try. We have not heard of this brand before and thought their extra anejo would be decent to try. Looking at the bottle I didn't fully realize the significance of the VI on the label but after doing some research it is how many years this distillate was aged in used American oak whiskey barrels.

The appearance was very similar to a whiskey/bourbon in the glass. It had the golden amber hue to it.

The nose was not your typical tequila notes. This picked up a lot from the whiskey barrels and smelled more like whiskey. It had the vanilla, caramel, baked goods notes to it.

The palate is where the tequila started to shine through. This had the very front of a whiskey but quickly turned to the tequila. There were notes of vanilla, agave, oak, pepper, and a bit of earthiness.

Overall this was a good drink to have, it wasn't my favorite one but would drink it again.
