Saving Sparkling Wine?

Sparkling wine whether it is Champagne, Prosecco, or any of the other varieties is typically opened up to celebrate a special occasion enjoyed by multiple people. What if you wanted just to have a glass or two yourself and don't want to waste the bottle? Before researching this idea I didn't think there were any other options out there until I came across the product called the OWO Champagne Stopper.

The OWO Champagne Stopper is designed to fit on most sparkling wine bottles such as Champagne, Prosecco, and Cava. It is made from stainless steel with a food-grade silicone stopper. This construction makes it so you can put it in the dishwasher to clean it for the next bottle.

Once the stopper is installed on the bottle it will hold in all of the carbonation. The ad does state that you can turn it upside down and there will not be any leaks but we found this to be untrue. Once it was tilted on its side it did seep some air and drops of liquid. Also in our fridge, we couldn't stand the bottle up straight without it hitting something. We had to tilt it slightly and hope it stayed up. One time going into the fridge it shifted, fell over and the top came off. This is a concern if you can't store the bottle vertically since it does not lock onto the bottle. For us, this was an acceptable trade-off.

We had our stoppers on the bottle for 96 hours and saw no change in the carbonation of the wine, flavor shifts, oxidation, or color. This is ideal for keeping a wine consistent from one glass to another a few days later.

If you do want to drink sparkling wine but don't want to drink a whole bottle or don't have others to share with then you can get this stopper to save the bottle for up to 10 days. This will allow you to open your favorite sparkling wine anytime you like without the worry of spoilage.
