When we moved on to the Rum portion of our class we opened up yet another sample pack from Flaviar. The first vial we pulled out was the Saison Rum.

The Tessendier Family creators of Saison Rum started in the Cognac world. When they ventured into the world of Rum they looked to Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica to perfect their rum. The cellar masters selected rums from these 3 Caribbean nations to blend together in order to create the Saison Rum.

The appearance of the rum was a dark gold color

The nose presented a medium intensity with notes of oak, fruit, coconut/beach, banana/plantain, tropical fruit, and molasses notes with rum.

The palate was medium with a simple finish while warming your mouth up. It had the oak aging aspects to it, vanilla, and hints of tropical fruits. It almost seemed like the rum was back-sweetened once it left the barrel due to the extra sweetness.
