In our third tasting for our WSET course, we tried Few Bourbon Whiskey. This was also in one of our Flaviar tasting packages that we saved for this course. We have seen this bottle in stores for a while now but have not tried it since we always decided on something else. Few Spirits was started in 2011 in Evanston Illinois by Paul Hletko after setting his sights on whiskey. He wanted to create something that would be equal to the offerings out of Kentucky.

We poured the sample into our glasses and were presented with an amber color. This was a solid color all the way through and left a nice ring on the side of the glass when tilted slightly.

The nose produced a medium intensity with brown sugar, charred oak, toasted bread, and a slight cherry tint to it. It was a simple right-over home plate bourbon that we have had before.

The palate was a simple, short to medium finish. It did have the alcohol burn/tingle associated with it along with a hint of licorice. There was nothing out of the ordinary in this showing the usual amount of oakiness, some vanilla. It is a good introductory bourbon at a decent price.

Overall this was a decent offering that we came across. This was not a bourbon that we would drink neat or on the rocks but we did enjoy it mixed with Coca-Cola. In our opinion, this would be a bourbon to have in your home bar for spirit-forward cocktails such as the Old Fashion, Sazerac, or bourbon and Coke.
